Area teams closing in on conference titles

The regular season wraps up over the next few days for central Ohio girls basketball teams, which means league championship races are soon to be completed.

Reynoldsburg, which has been No. 1 in the Super 7 all season, needs to beat either Lancaster on Feb. 5 or Newark on Feb. 8 to capture its third consecutive outright OCC-Ohio Division championship.

Olentangy Orange is in the same position in the OCC-Capital, needing a win over either Franklin Heights on Feb. 5 or Big Walnut on Feb. 8 to win its third consecutive league title.

Dublin Coffman needs to win its final two OCC-Central games to win the title outright. It plays Westland on Feb. 5 and Olentangy Liberty on Feb. 8.

DeSales clinched a share of the CCL title by beating Watterson 55-43 on Feb. 2 and can win it outright if it beats Hartley on Feb. 9.

In the MBC, Johnstown and Utica are tied at 11-2, with the Johnnies set to play Northridge and Utica scheduled to meet Centerburg on Feb. 9.

Newark Catholic is one win away from securing the MSL-Ohio.

Westerville North already has captured the OCC-Cardinal championship and Africentric (City League-South) and Northland (City-North) are other area league champions.

Africentric plays Northland at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at Columbus South for the City League title.
