The Reynoldsburg High School girls basketball team won its fourth consecutive Division I district championship March 2 with a 62-19 victory over Upper Arlington at Bloom-Carroll.
Reynoldsburg improved to 24-2 and will play Uniontown Lake or North Canton Hoover in a regional semifinal at 6:15 p.m. on March 5 at Otterbein. The winner will play for a regional title at 7:15 p.m. March 8 at the same site.
During the first four rounds of the district tournament, the Raiders outscored their opponents by an average of 67.5 points.
In the district final, Reynoldsburg led 33-12 by halftime and outscored the Golden Bears 17-0 during the third quarter.
Senior forward Shiloh Murphy made five of eight 3-pointers and scored a team-best 19 points to help the Raiders. Junior post player Alyssa Rice had 13 points and seniors Destini Cooper and Yamonie Jenkins and juniors Nicole Orr and Deshay Thomas all scored six points apiece.
“We started off by throwing the ball inside, and Alyssa and Destini got us off to a good start,” Raiders coach Jack Purtell said. “(UA) went into a zone and it slowed us down, but it’s our defense that gets us going.”
UA, which got five points apiece from junior guards Chiara Paradiso and Kyle Croxton, finished 14-12.
