Paced by a win in the girls varsity 4 and a runner-up finish in the boys varsity 8, the host Westerville high school club rowing team won the Hoover Regatta on April 20 on Hoover Reservoir.
Westerville scored 194.5 points to finish ahead of the Cincinnati Junior Rowing Club (148), Dublin (136.5), Toronto Upper Canada College (113), Cleveland Scholastic Rowing Association (44), Indianapolis Rowing Center (29.75), Clermont (28), Great Miami Rowing Center (24.5), Cincinnati St. Ursula Academy (24), Toledo St. John's (18.5), Louisville Rowing Club (6.5) and Toledo St. Francis (2.5).
Hilliard competed in five events but did not score.
Westerville's girls varsity 4, stroked by Columbus School for Girls junior Meredith Swartz, won in 8 minutes, 11.69 seconds to earn 30 points
In the boys varsity 8, Upper Canada College was first in 6:26, just ahead of Westerville's boat (6:27.2) stroked by St. Charles senior Patrick LeCorgne.
Dublin's girls varsity 8, stroked by Dublin Jerome sophomore Emily Marshall, won in 7:12.46. Dublin also won the boys lightweight 4 in 7:12.59.
The Dublin, Hilliard and Westerville club teams, as well as the Upper Arlington boys and girls squads, will compete Saturday, April 27, in the Governor's Cup Regatta on Griggs Reservoir.
