Northridge opens Friday, Aug. 30, at home against Millersport.
Jacob Burke, a senior running back and linebacker, is excited to kick off the season.
"We've been working hard for this since Dec. 1," said Burke, who rushed for 84 yards on 13 carries in a 34-0 win over Millersport last season. "We want to get out there and show everyone how hard we have worked to get better."
Last season against Millers-port, the Vikings rushed for 238 of their 308 total yards. Junior Chase Hess ran for 85 yards on seven carries and caught five passes for 23 yards. Junior quarterback Bryant Garee was 7-for-11 passing for 70 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
"Last year at this time, I had a broken bone in my foot and probably wasn't even playing at 75 percent," Burke said. "After surgery in the winter and rehabbing my foot, I know it's strong and it feels good to be back to 100 percent. I'm ready to go full-go on every play."
The Vikings have defeated Millersport four consecutive seasons, outscoring the Lakers 144-23.
