Friday November 1, 2013 9:06 PM

Thomas Worthington moved one step closer to its fourth state championship with a 2-1 win over Shaker Heights in a state semifinal Nov. 1 at Upper Arlington.

Shaker Heights tied it at 1 with 9 minutes, 50 seconds left on a goal by junior forward Marcia Brown, but Thomas sophomore midfielder Taylor Insley knocked one into the right side of the net off a pass from senior attacker Devan Chakroff with 9:27 to go for the game-winner.

“They passed it up the right side of the field to Devan, and I’m a left midfielder and I yelled for her to cross it to me,” Insley said.

Thomas improves to 19-0-1 while Shaker Heights finishes 17-2, with both of its losses to the Cardinals.

Also scoring for Thomas was sophomore midfielder Hana Sinno, who dribbled through the defense and scored with 15:50 remaining.

Thomas previously won state titles in 1988, 2007 and 2011.
