The Hilliard Davidson High School football team rolled to a 48-7 win over Miamisburg in the first round of the Division I, Region 2 playoffs Nov. 9 at home.

The top-seeded Wildcats improved to 11-0 and will play eighth-seeded Pickerington North in a second-round game Nov. 16 at a site to be determined. Seeded 16th, Miamisburg finished 7-4.

“I give Miamisburg a tremendous amount of credit,” coach Brian White said. “Their kids came in and played really hard. I don’t know how much offense we truly established. Obviously, we were benefactors of big plays and some gifts on their part. I thought they made some mistakes along the way that we were able to take advantage of. We’ll take that win anytime.”

Davidson opened the scoring with a 33-yard field goal by Jack Johns with 3 minutes, 36 seconds left in the first quarter. The score was set up by a fumble recovery by defensive back Joe Bernard.

The Wildcats used another big play to set up their second score. When a 38-yard field goal attempt by Miamisburg's Max Dungan fell short, Nick Stull scooped up the ball at the 1-yard line and returned it 66 yards to the Vikings’ 33.

Running back D.D. Clark ran for a touchdown on the next play to put the Wildcats ahead 10-0 with 26 seconds left in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, running back Phillipie Motley had a 45-yard touchdown run and quarterback Nick Iske scored on a 1-yard run to give Davidson a 24-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, Clark scored on a 34-yard run, Iske connected with Motley on a 21-yard touchdown pass and Motley had a 41-yard scoring run as the Wildcats extended their lead to 45-0.

Clark rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and Motley had 102 yards rushing and two touchdowns on five carries.

“Being in the playoffs with my brothers, getting to spend another week with them, not everybody gets that week 11 and, just being with them, I couldn’t help but enjoy myself out here,” Motley said.

Running back Chris Young led Miamisburg with 117 yards on 21 carries.

Pickerington North defeated ninth-seeded Fairfield 20-10 in the first round Nov. 9 to improve to 9-2. Last season, the Panthers defeated Davidson 21-0 in the Division I, Region 3 final.
