Four central Ohio gymnasts reached the podium of the state individual meet March 1 at Hilliard Bradley by finishing among the top six in their respective events.
The top area placer was Coffman sophomore Shannon Downie, who was fifth with a 9.15 on bars.
“I just had to come and give it my all,” Downie said. “My dismounts have been a little inconsistent. I didn’t do as big of a dismount as I normally would but I stuck it. I was here last year on bars and floor so I feel like I could cope better.”
On balance beam, Dublin Coffman’s Alexa Markulis and Worthington Kilbourne’s Jaclyn Turner each scored 9.05 to tie for sixth.
Placing sixth on floor exercise was Upper Arlington’s Rebecca Jaskot (9.325).
The top central Ohio performer in the all-around competition was Markulis, a sophomore who finished one spot away from the podium with a seventh-place finish (36.15). Brecksville-Broadview Heights’ Alecia Farina was first (38.325).
Just missing the podium on bars was Thomas Worthington’s Leah Carloni (tied for eighth, 8.925). Kilbourne’s Kayla Rice was 10th on floor (9.225).
