Westerville leads area teams at Governor's Cup

The Westerville high school club rowing team earned a third-place finish while Dublin was fifth and Arch City took sixth in the Ohio Governor's Cup Regatta on April 26 on Griggs Reservoir.

Westerville's boys first varsity 8 won in 6 minutes, 1.83 seconds to score 30 of the team's 71.5 points.

The Three Rivers Rowing Association from Pittsburgh was first (124 points) and Buffalo (N.Y.) Canisius was second (96), while the Cleveland Youth Rowing Association placed fourth (59).

Host Dublin (55.5) and Arch City (37.5) followed as 12 teams scored.

Dublin won the girls lightweight 4 (7:45) and the second varsity 4 (7:58.19), and the Westerville boys won the first varsity 4 (6:48.32).

Also scoring for Dublin were its boys first varsity 8 (fifth, 6:40.23), boys first varsity 4 (fourth, 7:23.66), girls first varsity 4 (sixth, 8:06.78), girls first varsity 8 (fourth, 7:25.54) and girls second varsity 8 (fifth, 8:06.31).

Also scoring for Westerville were its boys first varsity 4 (third, 6:57.93), boys second varsity 4 (fourth, 7:06.5), boys second varsity 8 (third, 6:39.56) and girls first varsity 8 (sixth, 8:05.59).

Placing for Arch City were its boys second varsity 4 (second, 7:01.02), girls lightweight 4 (fourth, 8:07.61; sixth, 8:33.76) and boys first varsity 4 (sixth, 8:06.55).
