Coffman takes top spot in Super 7

If preseason polls are to be believed — and at least with our Super 7 we’d like to think so — Week 4 can’t get here soon enough.

That is when Hilliard Davidson visits Dublin Coffman in the OCC-Central Division opener. The Wildcats have won 10 of the last 13 meetings and avenged two of the regular-season losses with victories over the Shamrocks in the playoffs. Yet this could be the year that the Shamrocks step from the deep blue shadows. And could this be the year that coach Mark Crabtree takes the Shamrocks past the final hurdle and to a state final?

With Davidson having only four returning starters, its ranking is a testament to what coach Brian White has built and the tradition of success he has instilled in the program.

In the spirit of rivalries, it seems fitting that Pickerington Central and Pickerington North would be tied for third. Those OCC-Ohio teams meet in Week 6.

Rounding out the top seven are Marion-Franklin, Westerville Central and Olentangy.

With only eight teams receiving votes, we might as well as add Hartley to the lineup.

We like to think we know how the final poll will look, but no one does; that’s why we play the games.

Enjoy each week of the season; we will.
