The Olentangy Liberty girls and Hilliard Davidson boys teams won Division I regional cross country championships Oct. 25 at Pickerington High School North.

The Olentangy Liberty girls and Hilliard Davidson boys teams won Division I regional cross country championships Oct. 25 at Pickerington High School North.

In the boys regional, Davidson scored 62 points and Dublin Coffman (77), Thomas Worthington (100) and Hilliard Darby (142) followed as the top four teams and 16 individuals at the 16-team event advanced to the state meet Nov. 1 at National Trail Raceway.

New Albany senior Dennis Maloney won the individual title in 15 minutes, 45.09 seconds and Davidson senior Colin Burdette was runner-up (15:47.2).

Qualifying individually were Watkins Memorial's Andrew Jordan (third, 15:52.1), Thomas Worthington's Jonathan Kissel (fourth, 15:58.46), Pickerington North's Zach Zimmerman (fifth, 16:02.84), Olentangy Orange's Hunter Moore (ninth, 16:21.2), Westerville North's J. Matt Parkhurst (10th, 16:22.34), Westerville South's Greg Smith (15th, 16:31.71) and Olentangy's Anthony Sasso (16th, 16:34.4).

In the girls regional, Liberty scored 76 points and Davidson (139) was runner-up while Dublin Coffman scored 146 to place third. Dublin Scioto and Upper Arlington each scored 157 but Scioto earned the final state-qualifying berth because of the sixth-runner tiebreaker.

Advancing individually were Worthington Kilbourne's Emily Stoodley (second, 18:48.91), Watkins Memorial's Samantha Hyme (fifth, 19:15.75), Dublin Jerome's Carly Davis (seventh, 19:20.64), Olentangy's Melina Endsley (eighth, 19:21.87), Westerville North's Heather Sandvik (ninth, 19:23.64), Hilliard Bradley's Tes Corea (11th, 19:25.22), Thomas Worthington's Christina Nash (12th, 19:26.09), Upper Arlington's Ann Heuerman (13th, 19:31.51), Watterson's Jessica Passwater (14th, 19:31.67) and Westerville North's Haley Sandvik (15th, 19:34.07).

Columbus Academy finished fourth (107) in the Division III girls race at Pickerington North to qualify for state as a team. Sugarcreek Garaway (40), Reedsville Eastern (88) and Mount Gilead (94) were the other qualifying teams from the region.

Moving on individually were Grandview's Ali Lachey (sixth, 20:00.5), Granville Christian's Lauren Keiser (11th, 20:12.89) and Columbus School for Girls' Eleanor Smith (15th, 20:21.91).

In the Division III boys regional at Pickerington North, Grandview's Eli Reed (ninth, 16:52.16) and Liam Kerr (13th, 17:05.45) advanced individually.

The Granville boys and girls teams each advanced to state from the Division II regional at Troy.

In the girls race, Granville scored 41 points to capture the title as Micaela DeGenero was first (19:06.03).

Advancing individually from the girls regional at Troy was Hartley's Emily Franz (fourth, 19:15.6).

The Blue Aces earned a runner-up finish (91) in the boys regional behind Tipp City Tippecanoe (56).

Advancing individually from the race were Licking Valley's Griffin Butler (seventh, 16:23.92) and Bexley's Peter Hayden (15th, 16:36.49) and Jimmy Delacruz (16th, 16:37.33).
