A late scoring change wound up changing the team champion at the Country Club Swimming League meet July 14 at Ohio State.

Originally, Scioto was awarded the team championship trophy with 2,573 points, with Wedgewood second with 2,570. Adjusted, Wedgewood won with 2,574 and Scioto was second with 2,569. The rest of the results -- The Lakes (2,312), New Albany (1,734), Worthington Hills (1,488), Tartan Fields (1,359), Brookside (1,268), Muirfield (990.5), Kinsale (855.5), Medallion (844), Jefferson (766.5), Columbus (138.5) -- stayed the same.

The discrepancy, discovered 45 minutes after the trophy presentation and after most in attendance had left, happened in the boys 11-12 50-meter freestyle. Wedgewood's Ryan McLoughlin was an alternate for the event but got to swim when an athlete from Scioto did not show up. McLoughlin finished 17th and earned four points, which in error were awarded to Scioto.

Once the mistake was discovered, team results were changed accordingly.

ThisWeek, which had a reporter on site throughout the meet and for 30 minutes after the completion of the awards ceremony, was not notified of the change until nine days later.
