The city of Upper Arlington is providing leaf collection services to residents free-of-charge through Friday, Dec. 5, weather permitting.

Please have leaves raked to the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, to ensure inclusion in the final week's collection.

Residents are asked to follow these guidelines:

Place loose-raked leaves close to the edge of the street.

Leaf piles should not exceed four feet in width and be no further than two feet behind the curb.

Do not place any rocks, sticks or other objects in leaf piles.

Keep leaf piles away from sign posts, light poles, trees and mailboxes.

Do not allow leaf piles to block storm sewers as this can increase the chance of flooding the event of heavy rain.

When the leaf collection is not in effect, residents may place leaves in approved biodegradable bags or refuse cans as part of the city's yard waste collection.

For more information, call the Streets Division at 583-5380.

Upper Arlington city offices will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

Refuse and recycling collection from Tuesday on will be delayed by one day for all areas of the city, with no yard waste collection on Friday. Service resumes its normal schedule the following week.

Additional information can be found at www.ua-ohio.net or by calling (614) 583-5370.

Upper Arlington has locked in a rate of $1.12 per hundred cubic feet for its 2009 Natural Gas Aggregation Program.

Interstate Gas Supply will be the natural gas provider, effective with the January 1, 2009, billing cycle.

Residents currently enrolled in the 2008 program, as well as residents receiving their natural gas from Columbia Gas who have not opted out in previous years, have been sent a letter from IGS announcing the terms of the 2009 program.

These residents will automatically be enrolled in the program unless they opt out by Monday, Nov. 10.

Residents who purchase natural gas from another provider or those who did not receive an opt-out notice can contact IGS directly at 1-800-280-4474 for details and enrollment options.

Details of the gas aggregation program can be found at www.ua-ohio.net under the Resident Services/Utilities section. For assistance in understanding aggregation, call the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio at 800-686-7826 or visit www.puco.ohio.gov.
