The Upper Arlington Historical Society and the Upper Arlington Parks and Recreation department are asking residents to submit nominations for the 2009 Wall of Honor inductee.

Each year, a new bronze plaque is added to the limestone wall of the Municipal Services Center Plaza to honor a decreased UA resident who had a positive impact -- in the community and beyond -- through professional, philanthropic, volunteer or public service.

Nomination forms can be obtained through www.ua-ohio.net (About UA/History section), or by calling the Parks and Recreation department at 583-5300.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 15, 2009.

Upper Arlington's 2008 leaf collection program has ended.

Residents are asked to bag remaining leaves and either make use of the city's Friday Yard Waste collection program (one Solid Waste sticker per bag/container), or take leaves to the free drop-off at the Roberts Road Yard Waste Facility. The facility is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

For additional details, call the Streets Division at 583-5380, or visit www.ua-ohio.net.

City offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1, in observance of Christmas and New Year's Day.

Upper Arlington households that normally have refuse collection on Thursdays will receive service on Friday. Yard waste will not be collected either week. Service will resume its normal schedule the week of Jan. 5.

Additional information on the city's solid waste services can be found at www.ua-ohio.net, or by calling the Sold Waste Division at 583-5370.
