Capital will play host to a track and field clinic from 1-5 p.m. Jan. 25 aimed at introducing young athletes to the concepts used in the training of university track and field athletes. Events that will be covered include sprints, hurdles, throws, pole vault, long jump, triple jump and high jump.

Capital softball coach Nan Payne and pitching coach Jeff Dupler will hold hitting clinics from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 24 and Feb. 7, pitching clinics from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Jan. 31 and Feb. 14 and a catching clinic from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The clinics are open to girls grades 5-12. Upper Arlington sophomore Niki Flower won the 16-and-under USTA National Open held Nov. 27 through Dec. 1 at the University of Michigan. Flower, the second seed, defeated top-seeded Kristen Dodge of Barrington, Ill., 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in the championship match.
