The Northwest Civic Association is accepting applications for its annual Henderson Award for Community Service.

The award, named after NWCA founder Anna Mildred Henderson, recognizes those who have provided outstanding volunteer service that improves local neighborhoods.

Jennifer Adair, president of the civic association, said the award is open to any person or group in Franklin County. All the nominees are considered by the NWCA's nomination committee, which includes two trustees and a non-voting member.

"We look for people who go above and beyond in their communities to make a difference and not only help those communities, but the communities surrounding them," Adair said.

Past recipients include Dave Paul, president of the Northland Community Council, Juanita Kauffman of the Southwest Area Commission and Pam Waver of the Hilltop neighborhood.

Nomination forms are available at http://northwestcivic.wordpress.com/board/the-henderson-award. Completed forms can be sent to the Henderson Awards Committee, Northwest Civic Association, P.O. Box 20134, Columbus, OH, 43220, or e-mailed to northwestcivic.@yahoo.com.

Nominations are due by April 3. The award will be presented at the NWCA's annual meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. April 22 at the Meadow Park Church of God, 2425 Bethel Road.
