Seven candidates for Upper Arlington City Council met the Franklin County Board of Election's Aug. 20 filing deadline for the Nov. 3 ballot.

The candidates will be vying for four council seats. They are incumbents Frank Ciotola and Wade Steen and newcomers David DeCapua, Deborah A. Johnson, Frank Milillo, Vernon L. Morrison and Michael A. Schadek. All except Milillo had previously announced their candidacy in ThisWeek.

Term limits will keep council member Linda Mauger from seeking another term, and council president Don Leach announced recently that he would not seek re-election in November.

The race for Upper Arlington City Schools Board of Education will be no race at all, as only the two incumbent members whose terms are up, Robert Arkin and Marjory Pizzuti, filed to run for re-election.

A local liquor option will also appear on the ballot. The new Giant Eagle Market District store that is currently under construction at the Kingsdale Shopping Center has applied for a license for Sunday liquor sales. The option appears on the ballot under the Giant Eagle subsidiary, the Tamarkin Company.
