The third annual Volunteer UA Expo will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Upper Arlington Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road.

The purpose of Volunteer UA is to help residents who want to serve their community find the right match for their interests.

The expo runs from 4 to 7 p.m., with 30-plus community organizations that provide opportunities for and benefit from volunteerism.

In a presentation scheduled for 5:30 p.m., local writer, public speaker and consultant Jason Barger, author of "Step Away From the Baggage Claim: Change the World, Start at the Airport," will serve as keynote speaker. He will be joined by other local presenters sharing insight on their personal volunteer experiences.

At the Volunteer Video Booth, media students from Upper Arlington High School will videotape short vignettes about volunteerism by guests, exhibitors and speakers. Guests are encouraged to come prepared to participate in the creation of this community video project.

Throughout the event, refreshments will be offered courtesy of various local restaurants.

Those attending can also sign up to win community door prizes. Winners must be present.

Volunteer UA is a partnership of five Upper Arlington community organizations working to promote and cultivate the many volunteer needs and opportunities that support and enrich the city: the Upper Arlington Commission on Aging; city of Upper Arlington; Upper Arlington Public Library; TriVillage Mentor League; and Northwest Partners (a volunteer component of Northwest Counseling Services).
