The Upper Arlington Senior Center, 1945 Ridgeview Road, will hold an open house on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants age 55 and over will receive free membership for October, November and December. There will be a free pancake breakfast and all four of the center's buildings will be open with information tables and representatives on hand to answer questions about the various programs and services.

Two free seminars about Medicare 2010 will be offered on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 by the Upper Arlington Area Chamber of Commerce's Older Adult Resource Group.

Both seminars will take place at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Road. Those interested may attend either the afternoon session from 1:30 to 3 p.m. or the evening session from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Both seminars will feature Medicare expert Chris Reeg of OSHIIP (Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program. Reeg will describe "original" Medicare, Medicare supplements, changes in 2010, alternatives to original Medicare such as HMOs, and changes in the Medicare Prescription Drug program (Part D).

Seating is limited. Advance registration is requested and may be made by calling 457-7876, ext. 432.

The Upper Arlington Women's Club (UAWC) will hold its first meeting of the fall on Friday, Oct. 2, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the home of Stella Studer at 4181 Kenny Road.

The speaker will be David Schnaidt from the Apple Tree Auction Center, who will speak about antique road shows.

Schnaidt's appearance is in preparation for UAWC's Golden Bear Antique Show, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tremont Elementary School, 2900 Tremont Road.

Annual dues are $45 per person.
