Michael Schoedinger, president of Schoedinger Funeral & Cremation Service in Columbus, was elected to the board of directors of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) during its annual convention and exposition March 10-13, in San Antonio, Texas.

Michael Schoedinger, president of Schoedinger Funeral & Cremation Service in Columbus, was elected to the board of directors of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) during its annual convention and exposition March 10-13, in San Antonio, Texas.

Schoedinger is a sixth-generation owner of a firm founded in 1855, which now includes 11 chapels, one cemetery and four crematories. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, a Certified Preplanning Consultant and a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner.

He graduated from Miami (Ohio) University with bachelor of science degrees in organizational behavior and personnel and employee relations. He is also a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, where he was student body president.

Schoedinger has served on the Ohio Funeral Directors Association's scholarship, bylaws and legislative committees. He has spoken before varied professional organizations and was a presenter at this year's ICCFA Convention.

He and the family business have won numerous professional awards, and Schoedinger has received the United Way Philanthropist Award.

He currently serves on the boards of the Young Presidents Organization, American Red Cross, Junior Achievement, Center of Science and Industry, the Family Business Center of Central Ohio, First Community Church and Senior Independence.
