Mark your calendars for Thursday, Aug. 5.

The Upper Arlington Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 17th Annual Taste of Upper Arlington. This premier summer festival and chamber-sponsored event typically draws 15,000 people to Northam Park.

The Taste of UA is the Upper Arlington Chamber of Commerce's signature event, allowing chamber members to showcase their products and services. Restaurant and food members sell samples of their signature menu items and enter to win the annual "Taste of UA" food contest. Local celebrities will judge appetizers, entrees and desserts, selecting winners for first, second and third place.
Non-restaurant members may distribute promotional items or sell their products.

"New this year! We are proud to announce we will have the Ark Band (with 2,000 followers) to provide this year's musical entertainment," say co-chairs Colleen Krupp with First Community Village and Charlie Groezinger, SGO Designer Glass. There will also be amusement rides, craft-making for children, face painting, clowns, caricaturists and fun for everyone. Back by popular demand will be the Bier Garden.

MYM Fitness has participated in the Taste of UA for the past eight years.

"Not only are we able to attract our target market to our booth, interested consumers can actually reach us directly and receive even more information than they could get from any other form of advertising.

"Where else can you find that kind of exposure at any price? For us, the investment of a booth at the Taste of UA pays for itself many times over."

- Charles Griffith, Move Your Mind, Ltd.

"We look forward to the Taste of UA every year. The weather is always great, the location is prime, and it's fun to be able to enjoy the summer and all of the exceptional restaurants that call Arlington home. It's a perfect evening getaway."

- Amy Jordan, City Barbeque

"The Taste of UA has always been a great community connector for our company and our agents. It's great to see how the community supports chamber events and I think this is probably the most attended event of the year. As a business owner this is one of the 'musts' for our budgeting purposes of the year and continues to be a great success, year after year."

- Stacy McVey, Keller Williams Classic Properties Realty

"Westminster-Thurber Senior community has participated in the event for years. It feels great to meet so many who have used our therapy services in our rehab studios. We enjoy reconnecting with those who have come to our educational events on our campus. We appreciate the chamber and the opportunity to participate as a community partner. In addition we believe that the Taste of UA event helps us with our branding message."

- Joel E. Wrobbel, Westminster-Thurber Community

"Last year was our first time at the Taste of UA and the experience was fantastic. My wife and kids had a wonderful time meeting and touring all the booths and events. The food, entertainment and people representing their businesses made me proud to be part of this amazing event."

- Adam Parson, Upper Arlington
Veterinary Hospital

"The annual Taste of Upper Arlington is one of our favorite events of the summer. The event coordinators plan the Taste very well and our customers are as warm and friendly as any we have all year. Rarely do we see such a vibrant atmosphere in an event that manages to maintain a small festival feel. Our stand is as busy during the Taste as it is during some of our festivals that have hundreds of thousands in attendance. We think that the Taste is so much worth our time that we've begun purchasing two stands each year. The Taste helps get our name out there in Upper Arlington for the Labor Day Arts Festival and the Fourth of July Celebration as well as all other central Ohio events that UA residents attend. The Taste is an event of the highest quality, benefiting both its business vendors and its attendees."

- Michael Showalter, Giuseppes Ice

"Last year was our first year of participation in the Taste of UA. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who showed interest in our company. Some asked about specific listings and others wanted an opinion of value for their homes. The attendees were the perfect demographic for our business. We are happy to participate again this year."

- Scott Street, Street Sotheby's
International Realty

"Besides counting on some loyal UA adult volunteers to help, this is a great opportunity for high school students to earn their public service hours," says chamber membership director, Karen Hamilton. "All volunteers receive a free Taste of UA T-shirt. We're counting on our volunteers to help in a variety of ways."

"I am proud to be coordinating this long time community event with TASTE committee and the city. It offers area businesses and the public a unique opportunity to come together," says chamber president Becky Hajost.
