Jonathan Barnes and James "Sandy" Bresler, both of Upper Arlington, were elected to serve as officers for the American Institute of Architects Columbus Chapter.

Jonathan Barnes and James "Sandy" Bresler, both of Upper Arlington, were elected to serve as officers for the American Institute of Architects Columbus Chapter.

Barnes, principal of Jonathan Barnes Architecture and Design, was elected secretary.

Bresler, a principal at Braun & Steidl Architects, was elected president-elect.

Jeffrey T. Lewis of Upper Arlington has been elected president of the board of directors for Professional Insurance Agents of Ohio Inc.

Lewis, an independent insurance agent, is president of Putnam White Lewis Insurance Agency Inc. He joined the agency in 1988 and has been president since 1991. Lewis was previously employed with the Motorists Insurance Group.

He has served on the board of directors since first being elected in 2004, and is currently a member of PIA's company relations committee. Lewis previously served on PIA's agents resource committee.

He holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation and is a member of the Upper Arlington Civic Association.

Kevin Carpenter of Upper Arlington has been elected governor for Region 3 of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

He will serve as a liaison between the ASCE National Board of Directors and 14,000 regional members.

A 17-year member of ASCE, Carpenter leads roadway, survey, traffic and utility design operations for WD Transportation. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Ohio State University, with emphasis in remote sensing, surveying and transportation.

Carpenter previously served on the board of directors of the central Ohio ASCE section, finishing his term as president in 2006. He also served as a delegate to the Ohio Council of ASCE from 2006 to 2010, and is the chairman of the Ohio Infrastructure Report Card committee.
