Upper Arlington residents Courtney Burgtorf and Kelly Kiser recently received the Girl Scout Gold Award.

The Gold Award is the highest honor a Senior Girl Scout can earn and symbolizes exceptional achievement in leadership development, career exploration and community service.

For her service project, Burgtorf developed a new website for the Upper Arlington Orchestra Booster Parents Association. She also trained the booster organization to update and maintain the site.

Kiser designed and implemented a music program for students at Barrington Elementary School. She introduced students to music from other cultures. Students made their own instruments and learned rudimentary world music skills.
