The Upper Arlington Civic Association will present a day of family-friendly activities to coincide with other UA events this coming Labor Day weekend.

The Upper Arlington Civic Association will present a day of family-friendly activities to coincide with other UA events this coming Labor Day weekend.

The Labor Neighbor Day will kick off with bicycle races at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 5 at the Kingsdale parking lot, near the Chase Bank, 3250 Tremont Road. Registration begins at 8:30, with races beginning shortly afterward.

Races will be divided by age groups and gender, beginning with a 2-year-olds and under on big wheels, tricycles and bikes with training wheels, and continuing up to the final race of 12- to 15-year-olds. There will also be adult and child tandem races during the event.

Also beginning in the Kingsdale parking lot at 8:30 will be the Labor Neighbor Day pet show, which is open to pets of residents of all ages. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the pet show continuing from 9-10. Awards will be given for shaggiest dog, most curious cat, and best outfit. Event organizers have asked that residents only bring pets that are comfortable around other animals.

Labor Neighbor Day will conclude with a wiffleball tournament, which will take place at the ball fields behind Tremont Elementary School, 2900 Tremont Road. Registration for the tournament begins at 11:30 a.m. at the fields with a rules briefing, and a world cup-style tournament to start at approximately 12:30 p.m. Teams must have six players in the field, including no more than three players over the age of 13 per roster. A parent or guardian sign-off will be required.
