A GPS unit valued at $200 was stolen between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and 10:20 a.m. Aug. 21 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1900 block of Westwood Avenue.

A GPS unit valued at $200 was stolen between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and 10:20 a.m. Aug. 21 from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1900 block of Westwood Avenue.

Someone broke into a house in the 1400 block of Essex Road between midnight and 8 a.m. Aug. 21 and stole about $1,900 in property.

Responding to a noise, a woman in the 1500 block of Guilford Road pulled back a curtain of her house to find a man trying to pry the window open at 1 a.m. Aug. 21. When she screamed, the man ran away.

Signs of attempted entry were found on a house in the 1600 block of Essex Road at 5:20 a.m. Aug. 21. No property was missing from the house.

At 12:15 a.m. Aug. 21, a police officer approached a man riding a bicycle on Riverside Drive. The man dropped the backpack he was carrying and ran into a wooded area. Examination of the backpack showed a number of electronic items that had been reported stolen from a residence in the 1700 block of Doone Road.

Personal items valued at about $460 were stolen sometime between 2:30 and 4 p.m. Aug. 20 from a locked vehicle parked in the 2000 block of Hastings Lane.

At 3:58 a.m. Aug. 20, police attempted to make a traffic stop on Fifth Avenue near Riverside Drive. The man driving the car led the officers on a chase before stopping the car in the 600 block of Kerr Street and trying to run. Officers caught and arrested the man, who later tested a 0.229 blood alcohol content.
