On Nov. 8, Upper Arlington voters will have the opportunity to elect three candidates to the board of education. Candidate Stacey Royer will get my first vote.

During the past several years, I have had the opportunity to witness Royer’s commitment to the betterment of our schools and education, while she served as PTO president for five years. I can say that her level of dedication is surpassed by none. As a parent with a freshman and a second-grader, I believe that the best candidate will need proven experience and the ability to think with originality and vision. I have personally witnessed Royer problem solve and brainstorm, in the face of obstacles and challenges, to find the best resolution, always keeping fiscal responsibility in the forefront and never sacrificing her principles or ethics.

Royer’s strong communication skills, and her master’s in labor relations have allowed her to forge strong relationships with teachers, school administrators, parents and students, relationships that will prove valuable as the board of education navigates the unchartered course of 21st century education.

For these reasons, my first vote will go to Stacey Royer. For the good of Upper Arlington, I hope you will do the same.
