UA school board vote sends levy to Nov. 6 ballot
The Upper Arlington Board of Education approved a resolution on Wednesday, June 27, to officially place a 5.8-mill operating levy on the Nov. 6 ballot.
The board held a special meeting at 7:30 a.m. to approve the resolution, the second needed in the process to put the levy before voters.
District Treasurer Andy Geistfeld said the levy would raise approximately $9.2 million per calendar year and is designed to meet the district's operating needs for three years.
If approved, it will cost an additional $178 in annual taxes per each $100,000 in property valuation, he said.
The district has gone five years since its last operating levy.
Also at the meeting, board members accepted a bid of $1,408,000 for the district operations facility at 925 Burrell Ave. in Grandview Heights.
The auction was held June 26. Chris Potts, executive director of business services, said the buyer was 925 Burrell Acquisitions LLC, represented by Nationwide Realty.
The UA school board agreed in April to pay $1.2 million for a building at 2020 Builders Place off Trabue Road as the new district operations facility. That purchase of that building was contingent on a successful sale at auction of the Burrell Avenue building, Geistfeld said.
