A local group which seeks to boost community spirit through civic events next month is offering a free evening of dinner and theater to Upper Arlington senior citizens.
The Upper Arlington Civic Association is accepting reservations from local seniors who on Feb. 20 want to enjoy a dinner event followed by the Upper Arlington High School Vocal Music Program's 2013 musical, Les Miserables.
Admittance to the UACA's "UA Stage," including both the dinner and musical, will be free for Upper Arlington residents 65 and older.
According to UA Stage director and event chairwoman Lisa Gearhart, the UACA is offering the evening of dinner and entertainment in hopes of giving back to Upper Arlington senior citizens and provide them with opportunities to enjoy themselves and the talents the local community has to offer.
"One of the things we've really been looking to provide was a new senior event to get seniors more involved in the community," Gearhart said. "We were really trying to think of something that would integrate the seniors in with different groups from the community."
The reservation deadline for UA Stage is Feb. 8.
Reservations can be made by calling 614-583-5320 or by registering online at https://parks.uaoh.net.
The UACA, in partnership with First Community Village, Upper Arlington High School, the Upper Arlington Parks and Recreation Department and the Upper Arlington Senior Center, will provide a catered dinner prior to the performance.
Both the dinner and the musical will take place at Upper Arlington High School, 1650 Ridgeview Road.
Transportation arrangements can be made for those who need them.
"There is no cost to the seniors," Gearhart said. "Like all the other events (the UACA does), we put it on and it's just meant for people to enjoy because they're part of the community."
