Girl charged with OVI, other offenses after crash

Upper Arlington police Feb. 15 responded to a report that a female driver had crashed her vehicle into a tree in the 1800 block of Lane Road and fled the scene. They located the driver, a juvenile, at her home approximately a block away.

Police said she performed poorly on a series of field-sobriety tests and was placed in the back of a police cruiser, where she began to scream and cry before repeatedly kicking the rear passenger window of the vehicle until it broke.

The girl was taken to a juvenile detention center and charged with OVI, reckless operation, driving under suspension, failure to reinstate, no operator's license and vandalism.

Following that incident, a male relative of the girl was charged with violating a protection order for reportedly entering the front yard of the person who had called police, yelling at her and becoming verbally abusive.
