Upper Arlington: Business reports theft of more than $66,000

Upper Arlington police are investigating the alleged theft of $66,194.69 from an accounting office in the 5000 block of Horizons Drive between 2011 and January 2013.

According to a police report, the primary suspect is a former employee who was in charge of payroll.

The complainant said he believes the suspect used multiple schemes to receive extra pay and to avoid paying taxes on income.

The report also stated the suspect is believed to have engaged others in the scheme and that two other employees benefitted financially, but to a "much lesser extent."

As of April 15, police had taken a statement from the alleged victim and were waiting to receive a written statement.

In other recent Upper Arlington Police Division incident reports:

* Police issued a summons to a female, who was not identified by police, for criminal damaging and criminal trespassing after she allegedly punched and broke out a window at a woman's home in the 1800 block of Stanford Road around 7:28 p.m. April 14. Damage to the window was listed at $1,000.

* A catalytic converter valued at $800 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a lot in the 1800 block of Riverside Drive between 2:24 and 10 p.m. April 8.

* A jar containing approximately $60 in change was reported stolen from a home in the 4800 block of Dierker Road between 10 and 11 a.m. April 8.
