Barring weather, construction work ready to go
It might be great weather for ducks, but this endless bout of rain is no friend to summer construction.
As a result, some of the project highlights I'm about to share could certainly experience a few weather-related delays.
Lane Avenue Resurfacing: Scheduled to begin earlier this week, this work encompasses the section of Lane Avenue between Northwest Boulevard and North Star Road. Initially, crews are working on spot curb and gutter replacement. It's the week of July 15 when resurfacing work is expected to occur.
One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. However, there may be some temporary delays for north-south traffic on Northwest and North Star, when work is in the immediate area.
Waltham Road Reconstruction: Phase II of the Waltham Road reconstruction project should begin toward the end of July, if all falls into place. This project comprises reconstruction of the section of Waltham between Northwest Boulevard and North Star Road, with the installation of a sidewalk and parking bays on the south side of the street.
Additionally, a modern roundabout is being installed at the Waltham/North Star/Kinnear Road intersection. In advance of the work, a public meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, at the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road. Full details of the project, timelines and impacts on traffic will be shared at this time.
Street Maintenance Program: Thanks to favorable results with our construction bidding process, we have been able to add a number of streets to our repaving program this year. The schedule for work is pending, but here's a list of the additional streets:
•Cassil Street from Cassil Court to Ivanhoe Court
•Edington Road from Mountview Road to Asbury Drive
•Nayland Road from Mountview Road to Woodbridge Road
•Upper Chelsea Road from Edgemont Road to Waltham Road
•Abington Road from Asbury Drive to Mountview Road
•Bedford Road from King Avenue to Cambridge Boulevard
•Edgemont Road from Upper Chelsea Road to Cambridge Boulevard
•Hillview Drive from Donna Drive to Anson Street
•Yorkshire Road from Cambridge Boulevard to Guilford Road
