The Upper Arlington Parks & Recreation Department will host a carnival of sorts in Thompson Park July 18 when the fourth annual Summer Celebration is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. in Thompson Park.
The event will feature a variety of games and rides, including inflatables, obstacle courses, the Giant Dolphin Splash and a zip line.
There also will be balloon sculptors, face painting, tethered hot-air balloon rides and a chance to learn to juggle.
"Summer Celebration is an afternoon full of summer activities for families," said Beth Sharb, Upper Arlington's community affairs assistant. "There's something fun for all ages."
The Summer Celebration is free to attend, although there are "small" fees for some activities, Sharb said.
In addition to the games and rides, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in Candace Mazur's dramatic skits.
The celebration will culminate with the UA Movie in the Park screening of We Bought a Zoo.
"Part of what makes UA a great place to live is the fun we have," Sharb said. "Enjoying a summer afternoon is just another way we foster the community-minded attitude that sets UA apart.
"Summer Celebration is one of a series of seasonal family events offered each year. We also have Fall Fest, Winter Festival and Spring Fling."
Summer Celebration parking will be available in Thompson Park's McCoy Road and Gavin Road lots and at St. Andrew's Church, at the corner of Reed and McCoy roads.
