Yard waste guidelines set

Friday July 19, 2013 5:36 PM

The City of Upper Arlington Parks reminds residents of guidelines regarding the disposal of yard waste.

Use Solid Waste stickers to dispose of yard waste on your regular refuse and recycling collection day. Place your yard waste in an approved biodegradable yard waste bag, bundle or refuse can. No plastic bags are accepted. Containers should not exceed 50 pounds in weight or 35 gallons in capacity. Containers should be dedicated for yard waste only and marked as such. Place the container on the curb without a lid so that refuse workers can quickly identify which containers have yard waste in them.

If refuse is mixed with yard waste, yard waste workers will leave the container for the refuse crew to collect. If you choose to bundle your yard waste, bundles should not exceed five feet in length or 50 pounds in weight. Tie your bundles with biodegradable string. Don't forget that each bundle or container requires one Solid Waste sticker for collection. Solid Waste stickers can be purchased at the Municipal Services Center, other area locations or online at uaoh.net.

You can also drop off your yard waste at SWACO (4120 Roberts Road), open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Brush, grass clippings, mixed yard waste, sod, stumps (no root balls), shrubbery, leaves and bulking agents are accepted.
