Jennifer Pharr Davis, who holds the record for hiking the Appalachian Trail, will speak at 7 p.m. Aug. 14, at the Amelita Mirolo Barn, 4395 Carriage Hill Lane., thanks to a partnership between the city of Upper Arlington Parks & Recreation Department and Outdoor Source.

Pharr Davis has hiked more than 12,000 miles on long-distance trails on six continents and currently holds endurance records on three separate trails. In 2011, she became the first female to claim the overall record on the Appalachian Trail by finishing the 2,181-mile journey in 46 days, 11 hours and 20 minutes -- an average of 46.9 miles per day.

An author of several books, Pharr Davis was also named a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year.
