Upper Arlington city officials this afternoon announced they have adjusted the schedule for tonight’s Beggars Night activities due to concerns about inclement weather.
As of noon on Thursday, Oct. 31, city officials said Beggars Night in Upper Arlington would take place Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Originally, Beggars Night was scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m.
In making the announcement, Upper Arlington joined a number of central Ohio communities which on Thursday adjusted their Beggars Night and Halloween activities, or rescheduled them to another date.
According to a city press release, the Upper Arlington Police Division will offer an alternative for families wishing to remain indoors by hosting Trick-or-Treating activities at the Upper Arlington Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.
The city also announced UA's volunteer Pumpkin Patrol still will be in neighborhoods throughout the citywide Beggars Night activities. The patrol reportedly will drive city trucks marked by a pumpkin atop the cabin to enhance safety.
“Neighborhoods may also want to consider pooling their Beggars Night activities by hosting small gathering points at specific homes,” the press release stated.
The release further stated Upper Arlington officials determined rescheduling Beggars Night would be problematic because finding a date that would not conflict with other activities would be “challenging.”
