* Register your UA book club with the library and be entered to win a gift package, including up to 10 copies of a title chosen by your club and a gift card to Huffman's Market.

* Registration now is open for adults and families to participate in the second annual Gingerbread Building Competition. Build a house or other creation and bring it to the library on Dec. 6 to be judged by a celebrity panel during Holiday Happiness on Dec. 7. * Kids ages 9-12 can join the "Youth Gingerbread House Competition" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4. We'll make faux gingerbread houses using graham crackers, frosting and other edibles. Celebrity judges will rate the houses during Holiday Happiness on Dec.7; you could win a ribbon and gift card as a prize. Registration is required.

* The "Youth Chess Club" will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Kids in grades three to six can play against each other and teen volunteers. Registration is required.

* Catch a showing of The Bishop's Wife at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. This 1947 holiday classic stars Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven.
