Wellington to host Lego challenge

The Wellington School will host 23 teams in the Nature’s Fury First Lego League Challenge Saturday, Dec. 14.

Caroline Haskett, marketing director at Wellington, said the list includes 16 middle school robotics teams and seven elementary school teams that will explore solutions to natural disasters. The competition will start at 11:15 a.m. at the school, 3650 Reed Road.

The First Lego League Nature’s Fury tournament requires teams to research and present creative solutions using robotics to respond to natural disasters, such as clearing an airplane’s runway of debris and delivering supplies.

Teams will have to program their Lego Mindstorms robots to solve a set a missions on an obstacle course, according to information supplied by the First Lego League.

Teams from Gahanna, Westerville, Dublin, Columbus, Chillicothe, Granville and Carroll are participating in the tournament.
