Bishop Watterson High School senior Matt Neary of Upper Arlington has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a candidate for the United States Presidential Scholars Program.

He is among just 3,000 candidates identified for the academic portion of the program who have scored exceptionally well on the SAT or ACT.

Neary is also a National Merit semifinalist who earned the highest possible composite score of 36 on the ACT. Nationally, while the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than 1-10th of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score.
