Latisha Wilder and Tim Jewett have been hired as the cross country and boys track and field coaches, respectively, at Upper Arlington High School, boys athletics director Michael Schaefer announced April 23.
Wilder and Jewett both will be replacing Dale Hartney, who is retiring at the end of the school year after serving 28 years as the Golden Bears’ cross country coach and 23 years as their boys track coach.
According to Schaefer, Wilder, who is in her second season as head coach in girls track, ran for Case Western Reserve University, and Jewett has been an assistant boys track coach at UA for the last 11 seasons and played football and competed in track at John Carroll.
“They’ve both been great influences to the kids,” Schaefer said. “Those programs are heading in the right direction, and (Jewett and Wilder) just made sense (to hire).”
Despite being the boys track coach, Hartney works mostly with the distance runners on both the boys and girls teams.
