Township trustees recently approved road improvement projects totaling $265,845.35.

Township administrator Tracy Hatmaker said the cost of the 2009 Road Improvement Project came in under the board's budget of $275,000.

"This year's project involves roadwork on a number of township roads and streets," Hatmaker said. "We are requesting the approval of $265,845.35 for any extras that happen with the project."

That number is just a few thousand dollars higher than the base bid of $257,795 for the project, he said. Extra expenses may include having to pay individuals to control traffic while work is done.

The road that will receive the most work and has the highest pricetag is Beacon Hill Road. That project will cost $75,328 and includes road resurfacing, work on curb and gutter along with the installation of curb ramps.

North Grener Road comes in a close second with a pricetag of $53,083 and includes asphalt work, as does work on North Street, also coming in at the same price.

Other roads included in the project this summer are Cabin Croft Drive with a price tag of $12,409, Cabin Croft Lane at $3,155, Center Street at $6,867, Clover Way at $6,474, Elm Alley at $2,872, Grove Street at $1,673, Haldy Road at $10,705, Hickory Street at $8,098, and Johnson Road will be split into two project one totaling $5,139 and the other at $12,287.

Trustees approved the expenditure 3-0. Work on the roads will take place throughout the summer.
