Three Republicans and as many Democrats will run for Columbus City Council this fall, if their petitions are certified by the Franklin County Board of Elections.

Incumbent Democrats A. Troy Miller, Priscilla Tyson and Eileen Paley have filed petitions with the elections board.

Tyson was appointed and elected last year to fill the unexpired term of Mary Jo Hudson. Miller and Paley both were appointed earlier this year.

On the GOP side, Alicia Healy, Roseann Hicks and Matt Ferris have filed petitions.

It's been 10 years since a Republican was elected to city council.

The top vote-getters will win the three seats on council.
