Students in grades 4-12 may enter to win Kroger's "I Can Make History" contest in honor of Black History Month.

The deadline for all submissions is Monday, Jan. 25.

Entries must address one of two themes: "How are you and/or your community making history?" or "What does Black History Month mean to me?" Students may submit artwork, essays or poetry, with one entry accepted per student.

Prizes include six $1,500 scholarships, 21 laptop computers and 27 family trip packs to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.

Application forms and permission slips are available at local Kroger stores. Winners will be announced Feb. 15, and a luncheon honoring the winners will be held March 6.
