Make-A-Wish 14th Annual Medical Mutual Columbus Walk for Wishes, 10 a.m. July 13, at Huntington Park and downtown Columbus. Participants can choose either a one- or three-mile walk to help grant wishes for children battling life-threatening medical conditions. A Finish Line Celebration filled with music, food and fun will be held at the conclusion of the walk. Walkers also have the opportunity to meet current and past Wish families. St. James Lutheran Church's 30th annual Brats and Crafts Festival, Aug. 2-4, at 5660 Trabue Road. Hours are 4:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 2, noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 3 and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 4. The event will include authentic German food and beer, live German music and dancing, a hot-air balloon launch Aug. 2 and an 1860s-era "base ball" game at 4 p.m. Aug. 3, played by the Ohio Village Muffins. The weekend concludes with the Columbus Maennerchor and the traditional German Worship Service on Aug. 4. Connect Ohio and YMCA Central Ohio, Every Citizen Online free basic computer and Internet training program, at the Hilltop YMCA/Cherry Creek multipurpose facility, 600 Fox Ridge St. The ECO program is open to any Ohio adult and curriculum includes six hours of training. Computer Basics, a 20-hour, one week program presented by New Directions Career Center, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 22-26, at the New Directions Career Center, 199 E. Rich St. The first six hours are underwritten by Connect Ohio and the remaining 14 hours of classroom instruction are supported by a PNC Bank Foundation grant. Participants learn key board basics along with how to use a mouse to navigate the desktop, and learn how to use the computer to find out about available jobs and apply for them. There is a suggested $10 fee to cover processing of registration; however, the center assists individuals regardless of their ability to pay. For more information, call 614-849-0028 and dial 100.
