Five local Girl Scouts will represent central Ohio on a tour of London and Paris hosted by Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland Council (GSOH).
The Girl Scouts going on the trip are Sidney Smith of Worthington, Samantha Walton of Galloway, Sierra Hawkins of Columbus, Kerrington Kelley of Grove City and Caitlyn Ryan of Mansfield. To prepare for the trip, they formed Girl Scout Troop 11.
The girls begin their journey June 17, and will join other US Girl Scouts on the eight-day educational tour through the Girl Scout destinations program. Destinations fall into five categories: international, outdoors, science, people and getaways. Facilitated by Girl Scouts of the USA and hosted by individual Girl Scout councils, the program aims to open girls up to new worlds and ideas.
The group will sightsee, visit major attractions and experience local cuisine, culture and art. They also will visit the Pax Lodge World Center, a Girl Scout World Association site and the birthplace of the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement. At the Pax Lodge, in Hampstead, England, they will join Girl Guides from around the world for a special pinning ceremony and learn about international Guiding and Scouting.
