Cutler named Ready coach
Joel Cutler has been named football coach at Ready High School, according to athletics director Ralph Locke.
A 1994 Jonathan Alder graduate who also played for the University of Dayton, Cutler has been an assistant coach for Upper Arlington since 1999.
Cutler coached the offensive and defensive lines and was co-coordinator of special teams with the Golden Bears. He takes over for Larry Wolf, who retired after last season.
“Upper Arlington has a great community and we feel like we have a great community,” Locke said. “He’s ready to take over a program and we feel like he’s a great fit for Bishop Ready.”
Locke said Cutler was one of 54 candidates for the position. Wolf went 101-51 in 14 seasons with the Silver Knights and led Ready to seven postseason appearances, including a Division V state semifinal in 2007.
Cutler was a co-coach with the Bears’ track and field program the past two years. According to Locke, incumbent track and field coach Dean Tower is retiring from teaching at the end of the school year but will remain on as coach of the track and cross country programs.
