The search is on for a softball coach at Westerville Central High School.
Citing time commitment as his main reason, Rick Branaghan has resigned in a story first reported last Tuesday on thisweeknews.com. Branaghan has been the the only coach in the program's five seasons.
"I knew at the start of the year that this was going to be my last year," Branaghan said. "I'm doing this just because of the standpoint of time and the time commitment that there is to it. I don't teach in the school, and I need to devote more time to my business."
Branaghan guided the Warhawks to a share of the OCC-Central Division title in 2007, finishing tied with Thomas Worthington. Central finished 21-8 overall, its first 20-win campaign.
The Warhawks struggled this season, finishing 9-16 overall and 2-8 in the OCC-Central.
Central was eliminated from Division I district tournament after losing to fourth-seeded Thomas 4-3 on May 15.
The Warhawks were 61-66 in Branaghan's five seasons.
