Needy families will receive some much-needed help this holiday season, thanks to a six-figure donation to Westerville Caring & Sharing, made by volunteers from the Westerville city school district.

Students and staff in the district collected food, money and gifts for the non-profit organization over the last month, according to community engagement coordinator Lynne Maslowski, raising a total of 450,753.

Contributing to the total were volunteers from Westerville North High School, who raised $24,369; volunteers from Westerville Central High School, who raised $11,254; and Westerville Central South School, who raised $15,130. Other buildings throughout the district contributed money, food, toys, gift cards, clothing and toiletries for the program, according to Maslowski.

Caring & Sharing accepts both material and monetary donations, which it gives to needy Westerville families during the holidays. Those who qualify for free or reduced-price lunches in the Westerville school district are eligible for assistance, according to Maslowski.
