The Westerville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7883 and the American Legion will host a Kids' Safety and Awareness Day this weekend.

The event is intended for children in kindergarten through third grade, according to VFW vice commander Alan Briggs.

Kids' Safety and Awareness Day will offer free identification CDs and fingerprinting for children, he said.

"These kits are used if a parent needs to provide information on their child, in case of an emergency, and can be e-mailed out to law enforcement instantly," Briggs said.

Representatives from Westerville's police and fire divisions will also be on hand to assist with the fingerprinting and identification process.

Kids' Safety and Awareness Day takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at American Legion Post 171, 393 E. College Ave.

Hot dogs and snacks will be provided during the event. For more information, contact Briggs at (740) 964-1933.
