The Westerville Concert Band will present a special performance of George Gershwin's classic "Rhapsody in Blue," during its spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in the Westerville South High School auditorium, 303 S. Otterbein Ave.

The Westerville Concert Band will present a special performance of George Gershwin's classic "Rhapsody in Blue," during its spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in the Westerville South High School auditorium, 303 S. Otterbein Ave.

Guest soloist will be pianist Michael Haberkorn, professor of music at Otterbein College.

Haberkorn has performed twice at Carnegie Recital Hall and a half-dozen times at Lincoln Center in both solo and chamber music.

He has also presented numerous solo programs at the Robert McCormick Museum in suburban Chicago and twice on NPR (National Public Radio) through the Dame Myra Hess Recital Series on WFMT in Chicago.

He attended the University of Illinois and The Juilliard School and completed his doctorate at Columbia University.

Also on the program will be Alfred Reed's "Alleluia! Laudamus Te"; Robert Smith's "To Dance in the Garden;" and Leonard Bernstein's "The Wrong Note Rag," among other selections.

The Westerville Concert Band is conducted by Richard Suddendorf and Jennifer Cabral Hever.
