St. Francis DeSales High School will graduate 232 students at 10 a.m. May 30 in the school's alumni stadium.

Steve Allen, CEO of Nationwide Children's Hospital, will be the commencement speaker. Student speakers for the ceremony are James Braun and Ryan Kincaid.

Eleven students are being honored with valedictorian awards this year, which recognize students who have earned cumulative grade point averages of 4.1 by taking bonus classes.

This year's valedictorian award winners include:

James Braun, vice president of the National Honor Society, a member of student council and co-captain of the cross country team. Braun attended the Martin Essex School for the Gifted and was a National Merit finalist. He plans to attend Miami University in the fall to major in business.

Jaimee Chamberlain, a member of the drama club, the National Honor Society, the world languages and cultures club and the St. Vincent DePaul club. Chamberlain plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to major in chemical and materials engineering.

Natalie Cole, a member of the ski club, the St. Vincent DePaul club, the National Honor Society and the school's mock trial team. She also was a finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. She plans to attend Case Western Reserve University to major in biomedical engineering and then to attend law school.

Nathaniel Dumm, treasurer of the National Honor Society, an officer in the Drama Club and a captain on the golf team. Dumm plans to attend Lehigh University to major in chemical engineering. He also plans to attend graduate school.

Jonathan Herrick, a member of the National Honor Society, the ambassador club, math club and the cross country team. Herrick also was named a National Merit commended scholar. He plans to attend Colgate University to major in science, with hopes of attending medical school.

Megan Johnson, a member of the National Honor Society, Latin club, environmental club, STARS, ambassadors club, math club and history club. She also was a member of the volleyball team and was senior class vice president. She plans to attend Loyola University of Chicago to major in secondary education and history, with the goal of becoming a high school history teacher.

Ryan Kincaid, who ranks first in his class. He is a member of the environmental club, STARS and ambassadors club and is president of the National Honor Society. He also is senior class president on student council and vice president of the St. Vincent DePaul club. He was named a National Merit commended scholar. He plans to attend Miami University.

Alissa Nelson, a member of the National Honor Society, student council, ambassadors club and STARS. She also is the treasurer of the St. Vincent DePaul club and an officer in the math club. She plans to attend Miami University to major in chemistry, with hopes of going to medical school.

Keri Plymale, who is a member of the drama club, math club and the National Honor Society. She was named a National Merit commended scholar. She plans to attend the University of Notre Dame.

Alexa Smith, a member of the swimming and lacrosse teams, math club, National Honor Society and is an officer for the St. Vincent DePaul club. She plans to attend Miami University to major in zoology and eventually to attend veterinary school.

Douglas Stauffer, a member of the National Honor Society, ambassadors club and a captain of both the cross country team and track teams. He plans to attend Ohio State to major in chemical engineering.
