North senior Jacob Thuman recently won two academic scholarships. They are District 10 Central Ohio Basketball Coaches Association and the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Scholarship.

Capital junior Brittany Carter, a South graduate, helped the women's 400 relay finish third in 46.97 seconds in the NCAA Division III track and field championships.

North junior Ashley Transue competed in the Junior Olympic Eastern National Gymnastics Championships in Tupelo, Miss., where she won a national title on the uneven bars in the 17-year-old division. Transue was also sixth on floor and seventh on vault.

Westerville resident Riley Buer competed for the Greater Columbus Swim Team of Ohio in the Regional Short Course Age Group Meet Feb. 20-22 at St. Charles. Buer, who competed in the 13-14 year-old division, placed second in the 100 free and 200 free and third in the 50 free.

Genoa Township and Genoa Firefighters Local 4307 will hold the Genoa Firefighters MDA 5K Run/Walk and the Kids Fun Run, both benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association at 9 a.m. July 18. The run will be in conjunction with the third annual Genoa Trail Festival. Proceeds will be donated to MDA on behalf of the firefighter's union. For more information visit www.genoatwp.com.
